Prenatal Training

At Scott’s Training Systems we believe it is extremely important for the mother to maintain a resistance training program throughout her pregnancy. A resistance program incorporated with a healthy diet, cardiovascular training, and flexibility training will enable the woman to deal with everyday tasks easier and allow her to cope with the increased physical work capacity needed for the additional weight while preparing her for the physical event of labor. Scott has even trained his wife Melissa during her pregnancy as well as after. The pictures on this page are of Melissa during pregnancy, and a more recent picture showing her now below pre-pregnancy weight with their 3 month old daughter Alexandra Grace.

Resistance training, which would be the main focus of the sessions with Scott, is important because the stronger muscles will help with the posture changes that occur during pregnancy. Scott will educate you on what exercises are most effective for a pregnant woman as well as what exercises are safe. There are a number of exercises a woman can do throughout her pregnancy and Scott’s Training Systems will ensure you are doing them with proper form and adequate weight. To learn more about exercise that you should and should not do call for a free consult (480-220-1874)or pick up a copy of My Phoenix Pregnancy (distributed by some OBGYN's in the valley as well as sold at Barnes and Nobel) and read the article Scott wrote on the importance of exercise during pregnancy.

While resistance training would be the main focus of the session, Scott’s Training Systems will teach the woman proper stretching techniques, how to determine her target heart rate, and healthy food choices (including ways to "sneak" in protein).
