Figure Competition

Figure competition is a mix of bodybuilding and fitness for females. It is perfect for women who want to show their muscle definition in a feminine way (softer look than bodybuilding). Classes are divided by height, and there is usually a Master's class for women over the age of 35. Typically in NPC shows women are required to do ¼ turns and are judged in both a one piece and a two piece posing suit while wearing high heel shoes. In organizations such as the ABA and ANBC, women are required to do 6 mandatory poses, a routine, as well as ¼ turns. No matter what organization you compete in, the judges should be looking for overall symmetry and muscle tone. Competitors should have good to excellent muscle tone and appear to have reasonable levels of body fat (this will vary for each woman). The judges are not looking for muscle mass, extreme striations, or the vascularity of a bodybuilder. This sport is very subjective and there seems to be a lack of consistency, so a woman should set the goal of achieving the best possible physique she can obtain. Scott’s Training Systems has several figure competitors who have placed in the top 5. We will help Competitors with their pre-contest diet, workouts, and posing.
